Keith Thurman’s World Boxing Results Against Mario Barrios

Keith Thurman’s World Boxing Results Against Mario Barrios – Former WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman made a statement on Saturday night. With his comeback win over Mario Barrios (26-2, 17 KOs) in Las Vegas. Fighting for the first time in almost three years, ‘One Time’ Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) defeated young fighter Barrios, looking like he hardly ever went to the Michelob Ultra Arena. None of the boxers were battered in that fight. However, Thurman looked a little out of breath after being hit by a hard shot from Barrios in the eighth round. Barrios couldn’t take advantage of Thurman who had to survive his blow.

In the championship round, Thurman looked quite tattered, forced to move to avoid getting hit. It’s a bit surprising that audiences are patient with Thurman. Dan didn’t choose to boo, and it was pretty boring in the last four rounds with his nonstop moves. The scores are: 117-111, 118-110, 118-110. If Barrios had punching power it would have been an interesting fight, but he was clearly picked by Thurman’s management because he wasn’t a great hitter.

“It wasn’t the hardest hit I’ve had. If he could go further and dig a little deeper, he might be able to knock me out. They’ve been asking me for a long time, ‘Where do you rank, Keith Thurman?’ I do not know. I’m one of the best fighters in the world. Who cares what rating they give me? What number did they give me or what position did they give me? I want to fight with a champion and I will look forward to getting right with a champion. I want the chance to win another world title.” Thurman said at his post-fight press conference after his win.

Thurman wants to fight Terence Crawford

“So if it’s [Crawford’s] opportunity, I’ll take it. I love great fights in the welterweight division, but do you see what I represent now? [WBC]. So this is probably the ladder I climbed.” added Thurman. To be sure, Thurman has really aged in the 31 months after he stepped out of the ring. But he still had enough time to beat Barrios. After the fight, 33-year-old Thurman announced that he wanted to fight for the next world title. Either against Errol Spence Jr, Yordenis Ugas, or Terence Crawford. Considering that Thurman is with PBC, it is questionable whether they will match him with Crawford. But maybe they will. Crawford is no longer in the Top Rank, which makes him an option for PBC fighters like Thurman.
