Spence Regrets For Missing The Fight With Manny Pacquiao

Spence Regrets For Missing Fight with Manny Pacquiao – Errol Spence Jr is still upset about missing the chance to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao last year. Due to an eye injury, he sustained while training for their big fight in Las Vegas. According to Spence, it was his chance to take the torch from 43-year-old Pacquiao to become a superstar in the sport. Instead of Spence getting the fight, 35-year-old WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas came in with three weeks’ notice. And beat Pacquiao by 12 rounds by unanimous decision, sending the Filipino star into retirement. Unfortunately, the victory that would change the life of 2012 US Olympian Spence slipped out of his hands. It’s just a chance to have to live the fight against Ugas.

And a possible future clash against 34-year-old WBO 147-lb champion Terence Crawford. Next month, IBF/WBC welterweight champion Spence will face WBA 147lb champion Ugas. In a three-belt unification bout at Showtime’s pay-per-view AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, USA. Unfortunately for Spence, many boxing fans don’t feel his union fight against Ugas is a fight worthy of PPV. Because they don’t see this as an interesting fight worth selling for $80. Nevertheless, we will see if the event organizers made a mistake or guessed correctly by putting it on pay television.

Spence misses fight with Manny Pacquiao due to eye injury

“I’m a much different fighter than Pacquiao, and at this point. I’m a better fighter. It was a pass for myself. But I missed the opportunity. Ugas is a true warrior, but I’m also hungry. I’m not going to let this opportunity slip by,” said Errol Spence Jr. about losing his fight to 43-year-old Pacquiao. Due to an eye injury, he sustained in training for their last game of August.

It shouldn’t be a big deal to Spence that he missed the fight with Pacquiao. Because he is old and hasn’t fought in two years. If Spence is the man, some boxing fans think he should be without him having to beat Pacquiao to reach that level. Ideally, Spence should fight three times a year, and he’d have to face the likes of Crawford, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, and Vergil Ortiz Jr. Even if it meant taking less money, Spence had to fight Crawford now.

“Ugas still has the hunger to want to be the best. I feel he is a little hungrier than a guy like Danny Garcia. He could ride into the sunset now and retire. He won’t bother about it.” Spence said.
