Australia Coach Prepares for VNL Debut
The opening match of the 2022 Nations League Volleyball is approaching on 8 June, the Australian men’s national team is now complete. All the players have been selected by new head coach Dave Preston. They are now reunited for training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. The Volleyroos, who won just one of their 15 games last year to rank 16th. They will also face Slovenia, Iran, and the Netherlands in the first week of this year’s tournament.
“It’s great to see the Volleyroos team back on the pitch together, and it’s a great opportunity for me to be with the squad for the first time,” said Preston. “We are all looking forward to the challenges ahead, and I am excited to see what this group can achieve going forward.”
The Australian roster features several veteran players such as opponents Thomas Edgar, libero Luke Perry and middle blockers Nehemiah Mote and Beau Graham. But also younger players with less experience, like outfielders Sam Flowerday and Ethan Garrett. T
New Coach and New Player
Setter Arash Dosanjh, who spent the club’s last season playing in the Italian second division alongside Gioiella Prisma Taranto. Very happy with the team being reunited for the first time since the end of last year’s VNL.
“It’s always a pleasure to come back from a club season and join the national team to prepare for the international season,” he recalled. “We have a new coach and a lot of new players joining the team this season, so it’s an exciting time for the national team. We’ll have a pretty busy camp to get used to playing each other. And learn about the new system that Dave will implement. But everyone is ready to get started and excited to see what we can do with this campaign.”
The VNL 2022 schedule for men’s volleyball is held from 8 June to 24 July 2022. However, the women’s volleyball match took place one week earlier. The Volleyball Nations League or VNL 2022 match.
