The latest Ekings News has revealed that Manchester United is in the pursuit of Ajax defender Jurian Timber for a fee of 35 million pounds.
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants to bring Timber to his team. Therefore, the two clubs are in talks over a contract deal for Timber, with the 20-year-old defender playing a key part in helping Ten Hag win a third Dutch league title with Ajax.
Manchester United is targeting strikers and midfielders who can create games and hold the ball. Including a center-half this summer, Timber, who has made 43 league appearances, could be the first signing for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
When Ten Hag was asked about bringing Ajax players to the squad, he said: “I think all the top clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights, but if Anthony goes, It will be a big loss for Ajax. Because you don’t have anyone in the current selection, who can take his place.”
The early days
Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech worked with Ten Hag at Ajax before moving to the Premier League and while winning trophies with Chelsea, the Moroccan national team. He is still struggling to win a place in the team. He has only made 12 league appearances this season.
However, in an interview with Dutch TV on Monday night on Sicco Sport’s Rondo, featuring Ten Hag as a guest, Van Basten suggested Ziyech could grow again under the new manager of Manchester United by Van Basten, said: “What comes into my head right now is that I think Ziyech is already playing in England. Could be a very good player. At Manchester United for Eric.”
But Ten Hag declined to respond to Van Basten’s advice and insisted he was familiar with transfer rumors. “Of course, this is the case with Ajax, you have to accept it, then you have to function well in the dressing room and with the people at the club. You have to analyze well and choose the right one,” Ten Hag said.
