Andy Murray To Reunite With Old Coach Ivan Lendl Aiming For The Top Of Wimbledon

Andy Murray To Reunite With Old Coach Ivan Lendl Aiming for the Top of Wimbledon – Lendl led Murray to all of his biggest career achievements. Including three major titles and two Olympic gold medals.

Andy Murray is set to reunite with his old coach and fellow former world number 1 Ivan Lendl this spring. Eight-time major champion throughout the 80s and early 90s. Lendl was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2001. Murray and Lendl first worked together from 2011 to 2014. During that time, Briton won his first two major titles and Olympic gold at the 2012 London Olympics. After a two-year gap and partnership coaching between Murray and former WTA world number 1 Amélie Mauresmo, the pair reunited in 2016.

Murray went on to win a second Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, a second Wimbledon crown and became world No. 1 for the first time. Ended the season with a 78-9 loss and first ATP Finals win in London.

The two have not worked together since 2017, when the 34-year-old began struggling with a prolonged hip injury. Which ultimately requires surgery and resurfacing. Unsure of whether to retire, Murray has continued his career with Jamie Delgado, who parted ways with him in 2021. He briefly worked with coach Jan De Witt but chose not to extend their coaching trial in February. Meanwhile, he is partnered with Daniel Vallverdu, but only until Vallverdu’s main man Stan Wawrinka returns to action later this season.

After BNP Paribas Open

Murray reportedly started working with Lendl soon after the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Even remotely and starting face-to-face training during or after the Miami Open, where the Czech-born American is based.

Set to sit outside the clay court swing. Murray is aiming to reach his peak in time for the Wimbledon Championship.
